Requirements for KRA PIN Registration in Kenya: National ID for Residents
  • Details of Alien ID Card.
  • PIN information for employees from their employers.
  • Information on the business registration certificate.
Employee or professional who is not a citizen but resides in Kenya
  • Passport original and a duplicate.
  • Introduction letter from the employer or employer's agent, together with the employer's or agent's PIN. In the electronic registration form, specifics must be entered.
  • The original Kenya special pass, as well as a copy of the special pass's endorsed page.
  • Receipt for KRA Acknowledgement. 
Diplomat residing in Kenya
  • Passport original and a duplicate.
  • A copy of the diplomatic card.
  • Introduction letter with Ministry of Foreign Affairs certification.
  • Copy of passport page endorsing an exemption.
  • Receipt for KRA Acknowledgement. 
Non-Citizen Married to Citizen
  • Original and copy of passport.

  • Organizations that are protected under the Privileges and Immunities Act (Cap. 179).
  • The Ministry of Foreign Affairs' list of organizations.
  • For officials, both the original and copies of their passport and identity card are required.
  • Introduction or Endorsement of the letter from the priviledged entity to KRA or the organization in question by the relevant Ministry (if appropriate).

How to Register for a KRA PIN

PIN registration is a short online process completed in about 5 minutes at cyber.topazdigital.co.ke.

After completing the online registration form, residents quickly obtain their PIN Certificate.

Non-residents receive an acknowledgment receipt, which they must show, along with other necessary documents, to iTax (Railways Club), in order to complete the registration procedure.
